Häme Castle Medieval Fair (Hämeen linnan keskiaikamarkkinat)

 The main area of the festival is the medieval castle. The fair presents dramatic episodes from medieval life, horse tournament, music and dance, puppet theatre, archery, fire acrobatics and fighting displays. Merchants and artisans offer their wares at a medieval marketplace. Visitors dress in the spirit of the period.

  Häme Castle is one of Finland ’s medieval royal castles, built at the end of the 13th century, following Earl Birger of Sweden’s crusade to Häme. The Finnish name for Häme Castle is Hämeen linna.

 Hämeenlinna, Finland’s oldest inland town, was already a trading place hundreds of years before it became a town.
